Emaki is built so that the interesting data — what you own, what you watched, who is in your household — stays on hardware you run.

What stays local

Your library, artwork, profiles, watch history and resume points live in Emaki Server, on your machine. Emaki has no catalog to sell you and no account to create.

What leaves the house

Metadata and artwork lookups reach third-party sources you choose, and can be turned off. Anything else that would require a network service will be documented here before it ships — including how devices reach your server from outside the house, which is still being designed.

No analytics by default

The server ships without usage tracking. If diagnostics are ever added they will be opt-in and readable in plain text.
